Ambulation in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
In 62 people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, the median time to losing the ability to walk was 16.5 months. A faster decline was tied to a shorter time from first symptoms to diagnosis and to a history of diabetes mellitus. These findings may help plan early support, such as walking aids and exercise plans, but they come from a small, retrospective study, so more research is needed.
